Welcome to the next level communication as we transition into 21st Century connections as a family that continues to emerge along with the times....

"Intentional Connections"
Deborah Warfield of Kalamazoo, Michigan

Traveling across country with the intent to remain connected has been one of the many ways in which we as a family have managed over the years to keep in touch with one another. From Kalamazoo to Guthrie, Kentucky in the summer times for the elders, from Kalamazoo to Boulder, Colorado for the visits to Bernie and Irene and Delma and El Ray, from Kalamazoo back and forth to the Humphreys in Chicago, from all points to St. Paul Minnesota for Thanksgiving Holiday Uncle John and Jan family gathering, from all points back and forth to Donald and Olivia in Portland, Oregon and Aunt Delma's crew in Tacoma and Seattle, Washington for Cousin Connections and Reunions, from all points to Jabari, Jan and Njeri Austin, Texas for more Cousin Connections and family Celebrations, from all points to Atlanta last year with Cheri, Thomas, Dion, Chris, Andrea and Njeri, back and forth to southern and northern California to Gordon Jr. Charlene, Rodney and Nedra's crew. Individually family members have lived in Brazil, traveled to Italy, Europe, Japan, Israel, Egypt, China, Thailand and the list goes on and on.

As I come to the close of this year filled with amazing opportunities for personal growth, I recognize that I grew in several areas largely because of my being more intentional about connections within and outside of my life. Join me as I invite you to journey along with me into snapshots and articles that share highlights of times when others in the family chose to do the same.
Change the way you think and your entire life will change.

Thanksgiving After Splash at 8100 Champaign
Chicago, Illinois
The beat goes on as Mike cranked up the fireplace and turned on Pandora. Motown could not be resisted by Sharon, who has always LOVED to dance! She grabbed Mike's hand and he obediently got up. I can say that this was the very first time I had ever seen Mike dance in front of anyone anywhere. Day after Thanksgiving Sharon and I had driven from Kalamazoo over to Chicago to spend a few days cooking and feasting with Charlene, Carita, Gordon Jr., Mike, Rodney and Quenn. We stayed over until Sunday so we could attend his first sermon after surgery. It was really great hangin with so many Chicago cousins in one place at one time chillin for a change.

Flashback

Kalamazoo, Michigan
Here are some video clips taken at the last Warfield Family Reunion which was held in 2001 at Camp Baber in Cassopolis. Kudos to Kharen Warfield for digging them up to be shared with us.

Maya Johnson Speaks Truth in a Letter to the Family
Atlanta, Georgia
Dear Family,
Today I was sent some videos of our last family reunion and it amazed me, we had so much fun laughing, talking, singing, dancing and sharing so much wisdom.  We were all together Warfield’s, Humphreys, and Johnsons etc. That family reunion was on my 8th birthday and I can’t even remember when the last time we were all together like that.

It seems like we can only get together for funerals and even then we aren’t all there. I know we have our issues between each other, but what family doesn’t?  I don’t think you guys understand how it has affects us (my generation) or even some of you, that we aren’t like we used to be. We are so much stronger as a family…as a whole and right now I feel that we are in parts and need to come together. I know you guys all love one another  deeply  and would do anything for each other when it really comes down to it. I love you guys more than anything in this world I know I don’t talk to each one of you on a daily, but you guys know the love is there and I try my best to make it to see all of you guys.
I just want us to resolve our issues that we may have with one another and be a family again. Some of the things our family has gone through and has dealt with most families couldn’t even bare it, yes I am only 20, but do remember who my grandmother was lol. I know more than anyone thinks I do about our family, and so do the rest of my young cousins we know things that you guys have tried to hide from us.
We see the grudges the issues and problems that you guys have between each other and it hurts us and I know it is hurting you guys also. I have been wanting to send this email now for about 5 years, but when I said I wanted to everyone told me “Maya your too young to know what’s going on” “You don’t know anything” well here I am 20 typing this letter to you all. I am disappointed to be completely honest.
You guys have let us down (teens, young adults) and even yourselves. I know we are so much better and stronger than we are letting off. I love you guys soooooo much and I just want us to be like we used to. BETTER THAN WE USED TO. I know it’s possible and I know it will take work. We are one strong clan together.
In the next couple of years I would like to plan another family reunion that we all attend.  I know I know it cost money!! But I think a couple of years is enough to start a fund for the next family reunion to save and put away and for those who need help we lend a helping hand. So give me feedback on that idea and let me know what you all think. I LOVE YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!! MUAH! MUAH! MUAH! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Love Always,
Maya Johnson

Gayle Warfield Photography Plus
Fullerton, California
Juggling her career, co-parenting, friendships, self-care and growing her own businesses has been enough to keep Gayle busy. I was fascinated by Gayle's Art several years ago when I began to search into her websites. Gayle is an amazing Graphic Artist and Photographer. Her daughter, Zoe is most likely the most professionally photographed child on this planet! (smile) Zoe certainly doesn't appear to mind being in front of the camera at all. Her are a few snapshots along their journey. I have also closed this article out with several links that you can follow Gayle along with.

Seems pretty simple, huh? But I challenge you to check out her blog for the construction story for the real deal:

Stephen Warfield Competed in a Million-Dollar Fantasy Football Championship in Las Vegas.
North East, Maryland

By Jacob Owens jowens@cecilwhig.com
NORTH EAST — Stephan Warfield never thought that fantasy football would lead to more than an enjoyable pastime with family and friends.

The 36-year-old North East resident has moved around the country with the U.S. Army for the past 15 years, and the game was a way to stay connected. Now fantasy football, which challenges players to make the best roster of National Football League players each week, could set Warfield up for a leisurely life as soon as Sunday.

Fantasy sports in general have become a worldwide phenomena across all major sports, with new host websites and support services cropping up each year. Most leagues last an entire season for a particular sport, but Warfield is one of tens of thousands of players in a new daily format started by FanDuel.

FanDuel, a New York City-based company, allows players to make bets online of $2 to $100 and select players in an auction-format from a single day’s slate of games, meaning players no longer have to suffer through a star player’s injury or demotion across a full season.

“I started playing fantasy football with my cousin, Kasi, about eight to 10 years ago. We set up a league with friends and family that kept branching out,” Warfield said. “One of those friends introduced me to FanDuel about three or four years ago.”

“I figure if I can come out in the middle of the pack I can come home with at least $50,000,” he said.
Warfield said his platoon at Kirk U.S. Army Health Clinic on Aberdeen Proving Ground, where he is a medical detachment first sergeant, told him they’ll be expecting lunch when he gets back from leave on Tuesday. He hasn’t made a lot of plans for any winnings yet, however.

“I’ll probably spoil my kids Kamryn, 2, and Darien, 4, with a bigger Christmas,” Warfield said. “I haven’t even thought about spending the money yet, but I’d probably get another car and save the rest if I win a lot.”

Livin' large in Vegas!

Is There a Pilot in the House?
Kalamazoo, Michigan
Kennedy Shelton preserves the legacy of her grandfather the original pilot, Dr. Charles Warfield. "Basically I am in ground school which is helping me study for the FAA oral exam and the written exam. Once a month I take a flying lesson. Either in a flight simulator that simulates a Cessna 172 or Cherokee 150. But if the weather is fair and I am able to actually fly. I go to the jenison airport, which is really small like really small it is mostly hangers with so that the richer people who own planes can store and work on their aircrafts.  It has a nice cemented runway and it is great for practicing takeoffs and landings. Mostly in the winter months, since I am not studying to fly in the cloud or bad weather, I am in the simulator but sice it is controlled by the flight instructor he could make it a blizzard or a hot sunshiny day but it usually collates with what we learned in that flight lesson or the past few flight lessons." says Kennedy. Kennedy expects to go on and become a certified pilot. Way to go, Kennedy! Rajdulari has a song on her new song entitled "Black Girl, Fly". Kinda prophetic I'd say. Smile. I am certain that mom, Kharen Shelton and dad Jerome Shelton are equally proud of their daughter.

Kennedy Shelton is on her way!!!!!!

Aunt Agnes Celebrates her 93rd Birthday on a Cruise Ship!
Detroit, Michigan
On the balmy summer night of August 7, 2013 family members gathered for at Port Detroit to board the ship for a night filled with great scenery, music, food, fun and fellowship on the waters of the Detroit River.

Infinity Cruise Boat

I drove up from Kalamazoo trying my best not to miss the boat that day. I had an appointment with my job that prevented me from leaving early. After getting stuck in traffic and also having to make a gas station pitstop, I was certain that I was not gonna make it. However, the boat was delayed and still boarding when I finally arrived. Phew! I was still using my walker at that time so you know I was huffing and puffing by the time I caught up with Aunt Agnes and Sandra.

Melanie Lockett Celebrates the Big Four Oh!!!!
Kalamazoo, Michigan
Faithful is our God as he continues to heal and restore each of us on a daily basis. I am certain that you all can relate to comebacks. See for yourself in the pictures below what a difference that God can make as Melanie celebrates her birthday on December 27, 2013.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!! So excited for a new year! I pray that God blesses you and your loved ones beyond your deepest desire and greatest beliefs! I also pray for health, love, joy, favor, prosperity, wisdom and peace for you and your family! With a new year comes the opportunity to be a blessing to others for no apparent reason and without expectation. A new year encourages us to forgive those who have offended us, apologize to those we have offended and begin the year with a healthy conscious and sense of peace. It also presents the opportunity to participate in the lives of children that need a positive role model. Indeed it does take a village to raise a child/children (family friends, aunts/uncles, teachers, pastors, neighbors, older cousin etc.) Now..Let me see where I'm going to start!! ;D HAPPY NEW YEAR MY FB FAMILY AND FRIENDS!! — feeling wonderful.  Melanie December 31, 2013
